TEA Sets Legislative Priorities

TEA has established its legislative priorities for the General Assembly session. While the Association will be working to advance its entire legislative agenda, the top three priorities for this year are listed below.

• A bill to address the salary equity issues with emphasis on a significant salary increase for all teachers.
• An amendment to increase the state-paid portion of teacher health insurance to 80%.
• A bill to increase retirement benefits working toward the goal of a 60% formula.

All members should plan to actively support these legislative goals. one way to do that is to register as a TEA "cyberlobbyist". You will receive timely updates and have quick access to e-mail addresses of legislators. To register, go to the TEA website:
